Update - well I am no so excited anymore!

I came down to the DR last week hoping that he would have his visa sometime soon. We went by the Embassy in Santo Domingo on Wednesday and found out that most of the workers in Haiti were air lifted out due to the Hurricane.

I have now heard from 4 different people in the past month, that their husbands recieved their visas 2-3 weeks after dropping off their passports - Mario took his there on the 8th so it is 3 weeks today. Now with the holiday on Monday and no one working in Haiti I am not sure if he is going to get it anytime soon.

I am staying here an extra week but am soooo stressed out. Everytime his phone rings my heart stops. Oh well - what can we do?!

Thought I would give you all an update - even though it is not good news! Please say a prayer for us!!!

Update - We met a couple here that just went to apply for a Visitor's Visa and they asked if the Haiti Immigration office was closed and they told the that no, it is now open. That they only closed for a day or so and everything is as per normal again.

Hopefully we will have great news this week!

Update:

Well I am still here! It is beautiful out today finally. We received an e-mail from Haiti on Wednesday saying we will hear from them shortly and that they have all our documents.

I just changed my flight to next Saturday the 13th!

Hey Johanna - I think we may be on the same flight as your husband!! If I can be of any help at the Airport let me know - send me an e-mail on Facebook!

We will let you all know if we hear anything this coming week!

Default No point

Sometimes I dont understand the point of having an Embassy in Santo Domingo, when all they do is to collect paper and not to process visa.

Not to talk bad about Haiti, but the not stable country like Haiti, why would they keep it as a main office of Canadian Immigration.

Visa
Immigration
work permit

Documents all sent to Haiti, should be the opposit at least political way DR is in better shape. Oh well the know what they do I guess.
