Default Visas to Mexico

Is it easier for a Dominican to get a visa to Mexico than it is to the US. And if I am inviting him to meet me in that country does he need a letter of invitation from me with details of the trip?

Default Yes a visa to Mexico is easier

From first hand experience a Visa to Mexico is easier because it is possible, while getting a US visitor's visa is tantamount to winning the lottery. We did have to make three trips to the Mexican embassy in Santo Domingo to get the visa. I don't think a letter of invitation will be of importance, I suggest contacting the Mexican embassy for more information on the information needed and fee scale.

I recall a fairly long line forming in the morning for those interested in such visas, but the procedure was much better than the one in the US Embassy, except for the need for three trips to Santo Domingo. I think it can normally be done in two visits.

Proof of financial ability to pay for the trip is needed. They will likely ask where you are going in Mexico. I got the impression that the further from the US boarder you plan to go, the better it will be for getting the visa. In our case we went to Cancun and the so called Mexican Riviera which we both did not like.

Good luck and if you get to go, let us know where it was and how you liked it. Might this story eventually make it to the Sanky forum?

While Mexicans Visas are easier than US/Canadian Visas
The applicant will still need to prove they have funds and ties to DR.The mexican Consulate usually assumes the Dominican national will use Mexico as a Bridge to illegally enter the USA therefore those with US Visas usually get Mexican Visas pretty easily.
Mexico also will ask certain Nationals who they consider to be a flight risk for a Bank deposit and the money is returned once you depart Mexico. The amount could be anywhere from $500 to $4500 US Dollars.
Usually the clearer your purpose of Travel is the easier it is to optain visas.
Especially if Youre going for Conferences and Honeymoon.
Good Luck!
