Default Question about "In process" ..re Immigration Canada

Hi Carlos,

Maybe you or someone else can help me. My status has never showed 'in process'. I was accepted as a sponsor and my appliaction was forwared to Haiti on december 29, 2008. Since then i have not heard a word. Should I have by now, or my Dominican husband.
Secondly, mail does not get to him at home. We used his work addreess and still have not received anything. Does anyone else have this problem?

Sorry, I caould not figure out how to start my own thread.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Lisa

Lisa,

I had this same problem. I was approved as a sponsor in Dec 2007 and the CIC website was never updated under my number - even after my husband arrived here in Canada.
I went to see my MP in April 2008 and asked them to get a status update for me. The inital update was that they had received the application, they were paper screening it and it was in the queue. Shortly after that my husband received a letter from Haiti requesting some additional documents. This letter referenced his Bfile number - so from then I could see if the updates. Not that it was updated that often - and I knew about the updates before I saw the status change online.

You could find the same thing that the website is never updated under your num ber. If your husband receives communication from Haiti then it will reference his Bfile number. You could always go to your MP and explain the situation and ask them to request an update from Haiti. All they need are both your full names and dates of birth and they can get the information.

Smile In Process

Lisa.
Following your application to sponsor, you should have received an answer from Immigration Canada that your application was accepted if everything was O.K. and all of your documents were in order. Also, you would have received a Client Identification Number that you can use to verify your application status online. Check your documents and if you have difficulty follow the Welcome Page | Page d'accueil site and follow their instructions by clicking on " I Need to: Check my Application Status". It will guide you.If not, call their helpine for assistance. Hope that this is helpful.

Thanks. Did mail get to your husband in DR? I tested the mail system by sending 3 envelopes to my husband. Not one of them ever reached him. This concerns me quite a bit.

Hi

When we were going through our second application for a visa, the website NEVER said in process for us. For the first while it said there was no record fo our application then about a week before my husand arrived in Canada it was updated to application recieved. My husband has now been in Canada for one year. I would not put a lot of stock in the website being updated, some people got the updates and like me we never did. So don't panic.

Hi Lisa

Our application never said in process until we contacted our MP and then a couple of weeks later it showed up in process. The website is not much use in my opinion as it stayed in process through the entire visa process, (despite checking three to four times a weed, then I got fed up). Who knows it may still say in process. This forum was much more useful as far as information goes than anything posted on the web site.

Good luck with your application.

I wouldn't worry about the mail system - a call centre agent said they don't use regular mail from Haiti for the very reason that they understand its not reliable so correspondence will get to its destination if they've sent you something. Not sure about the website - mine so far has been updated but "in process" means a lot of things so it will stay at that status until pretty much the very end. Good luck! from your sponsorship letter you should have a client id number - I'd just call the call centre and ask why it hasn't switched to in process on the website - I was approved as a sponsor on Feb 19th and the permanent residence applicaiton switched to "in process" on march 3 and said "we started processing this application in Haiti on March 3, 2009" - but since then we haven't heard anything - the call centre said this is one of the slowest/busiest offices in the world so they're only averaging 18 months to completion right now.... that's a long time - lets hope we're the lucky ones! the one thing I do know is always use your client number and your name, birthdate etc to log in -it won't come up under your spouse's name and will just say nothing....

Should I be concerned that I got my letter approving me as a sponsor on February 19, 2009 and on March 3, 2009 the website said In process for my husband's application in Haiti, but since then we haven't heard anything nor do we have a B-file number yet. I phoned the call centre and they said I shouldn't be concerned but I see some others around the same time us that already have b-file numbers so I'm worried. I also realize we didn't do the "use of a representative" form for me so there's not much I can do though we will fill this and get it sent in, but i just wondered if I should be doing something about not having our b-file number six months after they started processing in haiti?

Kacy,

the "in process" is the longest period. For me I was approved August 5th 2008 and the website did not change to in process until November 2008 and remained in process right up until last friday!!!!. If it has been 6 months and your spouse has still not received the B file # you can always contact you MP who will be able to obtain that # for you.

Hope this helps

Kacy, we sent application in March, 09 got approved in April and in process in Haiti since April 20. Until this day no regular mail with B file number. I emailed Haiti to correct my husband's home address and to ask for some information. They did not reply to my questions but at least they gave me in that email the B file number and corrected his address. They wrote to me to use the B file number in requests the next time. I have send emails just to do follow-up but no answer. We figure that at least we have the B file number and are hoping and praying that someone is looking into my husband's file! Contacted my MP, were very nice on the phone and said they would follow up with Haiti (that was a month ago) and no news either. So we have nothing else to do but wait! Have your husband email Haiti to request B file number since you did not filled the "use of representative" form. Good luck
