Default Has the processing in Haiti suddenly slowed WAY down?

I am not sure if it is just my imagination (faulty memory) but I don't remember the processing times having been listed as so long on the CIC website when I last checked...

According to this chart:
30% of cases are processed in 9 months
50% by 11 months
70% by 15 months
80% are done by 18 mts

Please tell me it has always said this and is not actually that bad

Ouf...

It used to be worse in the spring. Here's what Sangria posted in March. The link will say what you posted because of course it's been updated.

I remember a time when the site said up to 24 months

Hopefully this wont affect those of us that are still waiting.

Tiguerita, it has been like this since June 09. 2 weeks ago my husband got a response to an email from Haiti, and they wrote that it's between 8-18 months for spouses applications in Port-au-Prince. And I don't know how they prioritize files or classify applications, but I can assure it's not first arrived, first served. I know people who have been waiting 18 months and their cases were not complicated. It just seemed that their files were put under the pile. Others that get the visa within 5 months with no interview. But we can't complain or request information since they can always reply that for security reasons they're not allowed to give some basic answers. So we need to be ''patient'' and wait

they do start them in the order received but any time they have to request additional information or examine things longer or when the mail system fails them it can add time to your application. Yes some get through faster and we don't know what they included in their application that made things go more smoothly but if you go by the longest time on the website anything sooner will seem like a bonus. Its been that amount of time or longer for as long as I've been with my husband - this is one of the busiest processing centres in the world (or so I was told by the call centre) so it takes a long time. Its much worse if you apply from inside Canada (if your husband/wife was already here on a work or study visa or something like that). Believe it or not seperated spouses are considered a priority within the system.

Kacy's right....although it doesn't feel like thats how they do it!!

I think things are processed in order as much as is possible.

Each file is assigned to an officer and if they are held up with a file ahead of yours and another officer flies through a bunch of applications then it might seem like those after you have heard before you.

That happened in our case. Todiscover wasn't even married to her husband when our application was already in Haiti for almost 2 months. They got the call to drop off their passport weeks earlier than we did.

It is really really hard to deal with all the frustration and stress when that happens but it's out of our control and we had to look at it that it meant they were working on the files that shared a similiar timeline to us.

I think boogirl, DD & I were the last to hear in the group that applied when we did. You think your application is lost or misplaced or a million other things run through your head.

Try not to worry because the time will come and its true that anything short of the 18 months is something to be happy about.

I haven't posted in a while. I've just been waiting. I'm a little concerned because I keep hearing how people are receiving responses from Haiti. I have NEVER received a response. I sent in an update in contact information directly to their office via the cic website and I also sent a question via email. I only received the standard automated message telling me that my email/update was received. I am his representative in the package so I don't know what the problem is. It does make me wonder if they lost my file or something...

I wouldn't worry just yet - looks like your file went in to process in haiti on August 27 from the timeline page - I'd give them a couple more months. Sometimes no news is good news!

Sweetkiwi, normally you do not hear anything until month 5. If you hear before it's when they request for more info or if you forgot to sign something etc. They do not answer automatically to all emails they received. We too send a change in contact info since we noticed on cic website that my husband address was wrong. We never got a confirmation that it was corrected but a week later the good address appeared in the web site. I wrote a few emails to Haiti with specific questions and they replied to me, but it was like a month after I sent the same email like 3 times. Then they were ''kind'' enough to give me the B file to use in future communications. We have been in process in Haiti since April 20, and up to this day neither my husband or I ever got a letter in mail with the B file number. My husband got an email letting him know about a future interview. We replied back with some questions, and got an answer by email. So I guess after THEY contact you then they will probably reply to emails. Do not worry yet. If you don't hear anything after 6 months then you can start inquiring.

I am only worried because I made an error on the additional family information form and I wrote to let them know of my error and requesting direction on what to do next. I had debated whether to say anything about the error (would they think that I was lying? would they think we were lying about other things..?) and I still haven't received a response. I sent that email on September 15. To this date I have heard nothing.

[In case you're wondering, I completely, completely blanked on the spot to put the info for siblings (don't ask me how, my eyes must have glazed) and we have no future plans of sponsoring them so that's why I was debating about letting them know. ]

How do you check the address of your spouse online? When I log onto e-cas it only shows my address as the sponsor. I don't mean to hijack this thread by the way.
