I heard that B-1 is a mess. Mine is probably a mess also since I have the hanging glasses which probably are NOT there anymore.

Oh well, live and learn.

I was in a earthquake in NY believe it or not. My bed was shaking early morning. I woke up and thought I had a bad night drinking and the bed must have been shaking from that. I stood up and tried to get my feet settled on the ground and when it finally stopped shaking I went back to bed.

I didn't have anything to drink the night before but I couldnt understand why I would have the shakes like that

Hope everyone is ok and no one was hurt or sustained heavy property damage.

Ken, can you post more about the building?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott, will check and get word to you one way or another. Damage, if there is any, most likely to be stuff that fell off shelves and dropped from the wall. The good news is that even with the power of the shaking, we didn't have as much fall as I feared might.

We're just too frigging lucky! Just imagine that happening in the middle of the day, people and kids in the collapsed buildings, traffic, kids in school, worried parents/relatives. CHAOS! It would have been a lot worse.

Wow! We're so lucky. Some crappy buildings fell (they must have been crappy if those were the only ones to collapse), a small fire broke out, so what? Nobody was seriously hurt; people were made aware that this could happen and we should be prepared. Now that we are are all ears the authorities should insist that people have escape plans are ready at all times. This could be a blessing in disguise.

Keep this short..... so the "line" stays open for folks in DR to talk, but following events as closely as possible. Seems as if you all just had another sizeable jolt of 5+ on the RS. Best wishes for your safety, Bill

PS - first learned of the event when a friend in France called. Knew I was planning to go down sometime, and was concerned that I was perhaps there already.

Default any word on Moncion?

Has anyone heard about the area up around Moncion or Cacique? I've got many friends and relatives living there?

Thanks,

Tomas

Hope everyone is OK. Was on the phone with my girlfriend in Santo Domingo around that time, when she started freaking out. This morning, the news in NY was reporting it as well.

Keep us all overseas updated as much as you can.

Default Wow

I was 15 when the major earthquake hit Mexico city, and yesterday night movement brought back my worst memories.
The last replica was felt at 7:35 more less.
Our hotel is all cracked and there are a few aparent walls which felt down.
My worst concern yesterday was a tidal wave of some sort.
