No rain yesterday. Was at the Italian Embassy last night for the Italian day celebration and wow was it hot in the open air terrace. I knew it would be hot so dressed appropriately, but the men wore suits and ties because the invitation read -- traje oscuro. So you had them all sweating in the heat.
Interesting that when walking outside the house through the most lovely and large front yard it was cool and there was even a soft breeze. Made us think that Ambassador Sfara and his wife, the best of hosts, should consider next year hosting the effort on the front yard. I suppose they could set out some kind of protective covering for the grass where people could gather.
Others commented that men should seriously consider using chacabanas or guayaberas in summer.
Today at 1:35 pm, weather is about the same as yesterday. Mostly light blue skies, overcast in some areas. It's hot. Yesterday's max in Santo Domingo was 35C (95F). Good news is that in the evening it cooled off to 25C (77F).
