Not much to report on the weather in Santo Domingo except that it is hot. Temperatures have been hovering around the low 30Cs (86F). A short shower occasionally, but if anyone where to describe the weather, it would be sticky and hot! Of course, there are always places to catch a tropical breeze.

It's raining cats and dogs in Santo Domingo. All this as Tropical Depression Seven passes south of us.

hi D.,
is is Tropical Storm Gustav expected to be Gustav the hurricane any moment.
the system is huge, bad and ugly,
and it still did not pass you guys there,
it is still approaching,
landfall of and at least tropical storm, more likely mayor hurricane on the Haitian southcoast awaited, that's your neighbourhood.
it carries more waterloads than Fay did,
surface pressure clearly under the deadly 1000mb and falling,
the data of the hurricane hunters came in 2PM today,
the system contains 70+mphr hurricane force winds and even just started to grow up, the DR south and mountain areas should await mayor floodings and mudslides, i really hope this time everybody just stays home, grab a cold one and don't drive somewhere near a big river aso.
the DR SW, Haiti, Jamaica and Cuba should be on hurricane alert and await a hard landfall at the Haitian southshore.
PC started with rain 20 minutes ago, winds been down completely, that's usual, it will be back up soon, for tonight and during tomorrow i await for Punta Cana 20+knots of stormy winds and rain, we are far, so for you guys down there i just can say:
take care and stay home, it's never worth a risk.
wish ya all the best
Mike

Rained all night, on and off. Not torrential rains, but a constant drizzle all throughout the morning. Overcast and looks like a day of rain. Weather for a cocido or a sancocho.

It rained all night, but it has dried out now by 9am. Overcast skies. All this as Hurricane Hanna passes us well to the northwest.
