I will be at the Riu Naiboa.

Default Riu resorts in Punta Cana

Just spoke with the hotel via email and they say everything is okay and the road are clear between the hotel and the airport.

I hope this puts your worries at ease.

"We did have some damage but we are now working normaly. We are just waiting for the tv cable te be reset. There is still some water at the entrance of the complex but it goes down very fast. as far as we know there is no association to help the victims, some guest just give some clothes or 1st necessity stuff to the staff to help their family."

Best regards,

Hotel Riu Naiboa

Default riu resprts might be closed

hey guys

I dont know how reliable this resource is or not but I just looked up the website storm caribe and on their they post a message stateing that "All 5 of the Riu resorts in Punta Cana will be closed due to flooding".
Now, I have heard from a bunch of people telling me that things are operating normally at the Riu's, nor has my travel agent mentioned anything to me about my trip being cxl at this time but I am still worried. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

I talked to the resorts today via email and they say everything is okay and on the go. The email to my hotel is hotel.naiboa@riu.com so I assume you could just place the name of your hotel in there to check. They responded in a few hours.

dianar,

I know this might not be of much help to you, but it seems to me that all of us that are concerned about the mixed signals and information we're getting about all these resorts will just have to wait and see.

When people who go to the resorts this week and hopefully post on this messageboard and others like it, then we will get a clearer picture of the real damage and whether these places are back to near-prehurricane status.

I've seen everything from "resorts all around Punta Cana suffered severe damage....several of them nearly destroyed" to "minor damage....mostly water and sand....can be cleaned up in a matter of days or a week"

It's tough to tell whether the truth is one extreme or the other....or whether it's in the middle

Default Punta Cana

Hi

I've been lurking on this board for a few weeks now so I've decided to register and say hi !

I'm travelling to Natura Park, Bavaro on 29th Sept. However, on this website and in an email from the actual hotel I have been told that it is not open and will not reopen until 1st nov.

I rang the company I'm travelling with and they STILL insist that everythings fine and that they're still sending people to that resort !

I've really been looking forward to this holiday cause it's my last chance before I start full time employment (just graduated from uni)
