Hi everyone,
I'm scheduled to be flying to the Punta Cana Princess on Wednesday but now am unsure as to whether or not the hotel is operational. Thomson have told us that the Breezes (next door) has been badly damaged and I've read that the Caribe Princess (on the other side) has been closed until November.
Surely the PCP can't exist in a microclimate, it must have suffered some damage.
Does anyone know any more about it's condition and whether we should look for alternative accommodation.

Any comments much appreciated.
Mark.

Default Bavaro Punta Cana Weather

The last three days have been sunny with temps in the middle eighty's F and high twenties C. Bits of rain overnight. The humidity has been dropping to normal levels of about 75 - 80 %. The winds have been out of the east for the most part.

The resorts are doing a fine recovery job for the most part. Some have closed or limited operations to do repairs. It is something they would have done in the slow season, Jeanne just made them do it earlier. The benefit of this will be better facilities to welcome sun craving guests when the high season arrives.

Regards,

PJT

Quick weather-related question, PJT (you may know the answer) or anyone else familiar with the DR.

I've heard from some people that the ocean water has been very dark/dirty since the hurricane. Have you observed the in the usual clear waters of the Punta Cana region turning dirty after a strong storm like this before? What causes this?

Do you know how long it takes the beach and water to get back to its more normal state?

Just curious.

Talking What a fabulous holiday

Sorry for the delay - this is the first time I have been able access the internet since I came to DR

I am now sitting in the VIP lounge at Punta Cana Airport waiting to go home I really wish that I was here for much longer.

Just thought I would let everyone know that the Riu Complex is fully operational. We were staying in the Riu Bambu - there was some damage at the entrance with very minor flooding - just a big puddle really. Apart from that the resort was excellent, food was suberb, and the weather, well, what can I say, the weather has been brilliant. Few days where the rain came down but we are talking 5 mins at most and warm rain. Coming from Scotland we are used to rain falling for weeks on end and freezing cold.

Couldn't have wished for a better holiday other than I wish I was here longer. We will certainly be coming back to DR and will make sure that we are here for at least a fortnight.

So to all those travellers going to the Riu complex - do not worry, the resort is great, the staff are friendly and the food is great

Many Thanks
Stewart
