Punta Cana Sept 20th
I can't belive it. I was worried about Ivan a week or 2 ago and now we have Jeanne. I arrive on the 20th Sept in Punta Cana. Can anyone give me a rough prediction of what the weather will be like and if the affects of jeanne will still be around?
Thanks
Jon

No problem. When you arrive, it good be sunny out there again. Good news is that Jeanne is being kind to us and has decided to take the northern route, which means at most intense rains and gusty winds, but minor damage if any whatsoever as she passes the east coast. The reports from PJT later this morning will tell you what happened there as it passes early this morning.

Bavaro & Punta Cana – Weather Knots to Go There?
Bavaro & Punta Cana - Weather Special Update Thursday, Sept. 16
8:00 am. Jeanne, what a babe!!! Spent a restless night monitoring the storm and sopping up water. I lost power 4:30. I am working off generator assist.
Thanks to the great one we have phone service.
Dead calm at this time. Overcast. Temperature is 73 F / 23 C. Humidity is at 93 %. Jeanne is headed west from here at 9 mph. Suspect some gusts did hit Punta Cana in excess of 80 mph, will have to wait to obtain official reports.
I took opportunity to observe the immediate area in my residencial. Trees are down, some have blocked my street at both ends. Little observed damage to homes at this time. Neighbors say there was some water entering residences. Will wait to explore later. Need to start cleanup.
Will post updates when I make an opportunity.
Good Luck to my friends on down the line. Hold on to your hats.
Regards,
PJT

Thanks for the weather update
My fiancee is in Bavaro, Punta Cana and her 2 children are in Higuey. Your updates are most valuable, keep them coming. Without good phone service the worry is tremendous.
Thanks a bunch...

My dumb-a** boyfriend just called me from Punta Cana on his way to work in CapCana and told me that many trees are down and they've had pretty strong wind and rain since very early this morning. The best part is that he was on his way to work thinking that the worst was over. When I told him that the hurricane was entering the country at this moment, he decided to turn around and head back. I tell you, men sure like to make us worry!!!
Good luck to all and be careful!!

Hey, PJT
From the satellite pix as of 7:45 it looks like you may be sitting in the eye of the storm. Let us know if the wind picks up again!
