It just about noontime. Overcast with rain. The wind is from the SSW at about 40 mph / 34 kt with some higher gusts. The temperature is 82 F / 26 C. Humidity is at 90%. It appears with each passing hour the winds continue fade.
There will be plenty to do to after this encounter with Jeanne.
I just spoke with my boyfriend in Higuey about 45 minutes ago...said the wind was picking up again but everyone there was fine. Lots of wet floors and trees uprooted but he said the majority of the homes were intact. Hope that doesn't change!!!
I spoke with one of the directors of the Barcelo hotels in PC and he confirms that there is extensive damage to roofs at the casino and many restaurants. No power and water and 4,500 guests, ouch!
