Update
There is a weather system out there that is likely to cause us grief! We will not likely see our sunshine return quite yet.
The storm is west of us - about 250 miles away moving at about 20 miles per hour. It is likely to bring us gusty winds and rain over the next 24 to 36 hours.... It could develope into a Tropical Storm but conditions are not ideal for it to do so. It could go north or it could go south.... time will tell.
Rats.
I will post updates as I have them
Have a great day.

Good morning, a blustery rainy morning it is. The rain comes in heavy squalls and then lets up again. Based on the satellite image that Chris posted it looks like this will be with us all day today!
Find somewhere dry and protected, get a good book or a good friend and enjoy.
Have a great day.

Wedenesday December 12
Good morning. We are overcast and dull today with a light breeze. The worst is over for us here in the Puerto PLata area. We have some damage but it seems to be limited to trees and power lines. Of course there is flooding in low lying areas and I do not know how extensive that damage is but will try to find out.
For those of you coming on vacation to this area: there is no serious damage to the hotels, if I hear of any reports I will certainly post them. The golf courses will be a bit messy and will need time to dry out, but they will be cleaned up.
If you are coming soon - please think of what you might be able to bring for those less fortunate. Many people will have lost possessions in this storm. Low lying areas will be flooded out and these people will need help! If you are willing to bring items please contact me by pm or email! Thanks in advance.
Have a great day.

Bring Something For Flood Victims
You say to bring something for those less fortunate who are going through a hard time with the storms DR has had this fall/early winter........What would you recommend people bring and WHO and how would we give it to in order to make SURE supplies got to those really in need ?? We fly into Santiago but stay in Costambar (Puerto Plata area). I understand the barrio near Costambar was flooded out.....

Thursday December 13
Today we saw sunshine!!!! I swear every home had laundry out on the line drying today, including me......
Our sunshine was interspersed with a few quick showers but overall it was a nice day. It allowed some people to start to dry out...
Thanks for your question kjt96 - almost all the low lying barrios in Puerto Plata have sustained some damage. If you want to contact me I can help you get items to the needy. Or in your case, you may know people in Costambar to help you directly. Either way as long as it helps people in need. And thanks in advance....
Have a great day.

Needed supplies
My family and a few friends are scheduled to arrive to Puerto Plata on sunday.
Could you please tell me what is needed for flood victims?
I am sure I can bring some extra clothes and such. I would really like to help.
How is the situation in Puerto Plata? Do you have electricity back on? Roads from the airport OK?
Hope everyone is well. Hasta pronto!

Friday December 14
We have another partly sunny day - nice weather considering earlier this week. It is 82F and we have a very light breeze. I would expect to see the clouds build up this afternoon and we will get some rain showers....
What do people need? clothes, food, medical supplies (bandages etc no drugs) shoes..... And if you run out of room you can always bring money and we will get it to the right places! Or we can go shopping to the grocery stores and buy food! Thanks for thinking of the less fortunate.
Have a great day.

Good morning, we have another stunning day! Bright blue skies - almost no breeze, 83F right now............... and again not a cloud in the sky. Remember your sun screen!
We had a few clouds roll in late yesterday afternoon but no wet stuff.
