Good morning - we have the start of a beautiful day! Bright blue sky, a light breeze, sun and HEAT... it is a bit humid too.

We need a couple of days like this to dry everything out in anticipation of the weekend.

Not to be alarmist - prepare for a storm this weekend. It is likely we will see some heavy rains and windy conditions. There is a chance we could see serious amounts of rain and wind.

Those of us who live here - should be prepared. Those visiting - know that the hotels prepare for these contingencies. RELAX - you will be taken care of!

If you are flying in - I cannot predict what will happen. Contact your airlines. If you are flying out - same thing - contact your tour representative for assistance.

For now - have a great day!

Good morning - it is damn hot and humid here. And yes absolutely still under cloudy skies. It is the kind of cloud cover that looks like a giant blanket.

It is so humid that you sweat thinking about moving! It is the calm before the storm

For anyone here - get your preparations in order!!!! If you life in low lying areas for goodness sake have a plan to move to higher ground. We can expect a LOT of rain from this system I am told. So take precautions.

If you are in a hotel - don't worry - they know what they are doing.

I will report conditions often as long as I have internet!

Have a great day.

Default 6:30 update

It is now getting dark - black black clouds and it is windy now. We had about 15 drops of rain about 1/2 ago but no more since. It is just a matter of time.

I forgot to mention - I was out earlier today and I was amazed how many people here did not know a big storm was coming! I hope that everyone is prepared but unfortunately that is likely not the case.

I will post more later.

planner;

I would think that the government would issue a "general warning" via some of those sound vehicles that are so prominent during the "electionering".
Why not ask the "City Counsel" of POP to do so? THAT would be a TRUE PUBLIC SERVICE and wouldn't cost very much.

As far as I know they issue warnings via the radio, TV and newspapers. Unfortunately they are not often heeded and the poorest are the least likely to know about the warnings.

Using the broadcast vehicles is a good idea - those are mostly private enterprise but I am sure the gov't can make a deal.

All that being said, I am not sure what else the gov't does.

Drop the suggestion in their "suggestion box" or collar one of the councel members and INSIST they do it. That oughta' make their day.
