Good morning. TOday is a mixed bag of weather. We have cloudy conditions with sunny breaks, no breeze to speak of. Overnight we had some light showers but nothing much!

Hopefully the sunny breaks will grow and we will have a very nice day.

Have a great day.

Well our weather has deteriorated! Today is completely overcast but it isn't raining. There is no breeze at all. The weather forecasters are calling for a high of 26C.

Have a great day.

Good morning everyone. Today started out with cloud cover which has now cleared off. While we have sun currently off in the distance is high clouds which will make there way here later today.

It is anticipated we will get up to 80F and it should be a reasonably nice day of sun and clouds. NOthing too exciting for those of us who live here but I am guessing a heck of a lot better then most places!!!

Have a great day.

Good morning! Today it is paradise. We have a beautiful blue sky, warm temperatures and barely a breeze. I should play hookey today and go to the beach.

Who wants to come with me???

Have a great day.

Hi,

Hoping you can help me, am looking to book a trip to puerto plata in May, I have read various reports on what the weather will be like and am somewhat confused, from what I understand the Rainy seasons last from Nov-Dec in the North, and from May-Oct everywhere else, May being the wettest. So am I right in thinking if I go to Puerto Plata in May I should be safe with the weather or will I get wet?????

Thanks for any advice you can give me

OK, here's my advise. Just plan your trip and go! May is as good a time as any. Rainy/dry "seasons" only represent past weather trends. It rained on the North coast for a good part of the month of January. I've been in November and had perfect weather. Same last May. If the success or failure of your vacation depends on whether it rains or not, you are setting yourself up for disappointment wherever you go.

Generally, one cannot 'order up' the weather 'to go'! We've had an above average rainy season. We've had much more rain than usual. But for the past few weeks, we've had generally dry weather. It also has been a colder 'winter' than usual. These things happen - and in this year, they happened all over the Caribbean. During Hurricane Season, we had I think it was 6 storms that were threatening or close or on the spot. With my 12 years experience in Caribbean weather, this was a new one for me.

My personal favorite times in the DR is April/May and November/December. These are milder than usual weatherwise, hotter or cooler than otherwise generally - I repeat, these are my personal favorite times and other people may find it different.

There is always an element of risk in whatever one decides to do. I would say plan your vacation as best you can, take your vacation and take what comes your way. Also, 'wet' in normal tropical weather conditions means a tropical downpour in the afternoon or at night. It lasts an hour at the most, and you're dry a little time after. Part of the fun!

Get packing and go on vacation!

Good morning,

Today we have blue skies with scattered clouds. There is a very very slight breeze. It is expected to get nice and hot here today and we have a chance of an afternoon or evening shower!

The nights are still quite cool. At least they are for those of us that are climatized! Bring a sweater!

As for May weather: hotter, mostly dry but always the chance of showers!!! May is a usually a nice month, but you can expect the unexpected! It appears that weather patterns everywhere are shifting. Like Chris says, pack your suitcase and come on down! Whatever the weather brings you will have a good time.

Have a great day!

Good morning, today has started out nice and sunny with some intermitent clouds. We have a light breeze.

Yesterday the weather degenerated into rain! Yuck. Hopefully it will stay nice and sunny today.

Have a great day.
