Monday May 16
Good morning. And today is pretty nice too. We have big fat fluffy clouds up there but not the threatening ugly kind. It is hot and we have a fair amount of sun at the moment. Again this is May and we can probably expect rain later on in the day.
Have a great day.

san juan
Hi. I am really enjoying this site. However no one seems to mention San Juan. Dose it exist???? I hope so , i am flying out there from the uk on the 31st may.
I have like many others seen the website which constantley tells of rain rain and more rain. I do expect some rain the first two weeks of june, but how much???? Can anyone there look into their crystal ball and give me an idea?
if you have any links for San juan i would be greatfull.
cheers jayne

HI Jayne,
San Juan???? Not sure where you are referring to. As for online weather, if there is a chance of rain they will report it! We almost always have a chance of rain or thunderstorms this time of year.
Sometimes you will get 2 fabulous weeks, sometimes not. Be ready for it all!

Planner, I would hazard a guess it is the Bahia Principe San Juan hotel.

North Coast weather
thanks Chris. I've not heard the hotel referred to as the Bahia Principe San Juan ...... kind of confusing.
So, let's clear up some information for everyone. The North Coast is very diverse! The weather in Samana may be different then Rio San Juan (Bahia Principe area) may be different then Cabarete, then Sosua, then Puerto Plata, Luperon and so on!
I have been in Puerto Plata where it is pouring rain, driven to Sosua (10miles?) to lay on the beach in beautiful sunny weather and returned to Puerto Plata to - you guessed it - rain. And vice versa! The topography plays a huge role here in the weather of the day! In fact it can be pouring rain in downtown Puerto Plata and dry here at my office 5 minutes away.
So, if you are coming to the North Coast in May or June be prepared for all weather conditions. Okay, except snow hail sleet etc.....LOL
We will get rain while you are here! We will get sun while you are here! We will have mosquitos while you are here!
Be a good boy scout or girl guide and be prepared! AND most important - ignore all those online forecasts except of course for us here on DR1! We have a direct link to the powers that be and for the right bribes we can arrange favourable weather......
Now, if you believe that, I think I have land for sale....
Have a great day.

Good morning. And today we have a very nice morning indeed! IT is sunny but we do have a lot of clouds around so expect it to get increasingly overcast with maybe rain later today.
I am off the board for the next 3 days! Maybe Carina will fill you all in while I am away.
Have a great week.

I would be really nice if Carina would stand in for you while you're away Planner. Would Appreciate it Carina. Peter of Peter & Alex fame in Cabarete will also be away for a few days.. so, our North Coast weather reporting may just come to a grinding halt if Carina does not stand in .

Wednesday May 18
Good morning from Puerto Plata!
We have sun this morning, and very light clouds!
No wind at all, not a leaf is moving on the palmtrees I see outside.
Looking over the oceanside there are grey clouds gathering though, and up
on the mountain side, by Isabel de Torres, still clear.
I think we can expect some more clouds today, maybe a few rainshowers later on as well, but no heavy showers.
The weather is warm and calm, enjoy your day!

Thursday May 19
Good morning everyone!
Cloudy outside, calm wind and very humid, very "typical May weather".
The clouds are still light over the ocean and over the city itself, but looking up over the mountain side, there are some grey, ugly ones approaching.
Possible we get some showers later on today, but again, I think there is no
heavy rain to be expected - just showers if even so.
Sunrise around 6 a.m and sunset shortly after 7 p.m.
Days get longer with about 5 min a week now, so have a nice day!
