I have finally returned to my office - see other thread for story - and the weather has turned.

It is now black outside, thunder, lightening and serious rain storm going on!

hopefully by tomorrow it will be back to nice weather.

Good morning to you. Today we are seeing much brighter skies. When I woke up it was dull and dreary but the sun is burning thru these high clouds and it could be a really nice day.

It is hot and humid with almost no breeze again today. Normally we see the winds pick up as the day progresses.

It has been quite the weekend weather wise. Saturday afternoon deteriorated into thunderstorms, but not too bad.

Sunday started out absolutely beautiful! By 3:30 we had extensive cloud cover and by 4:30 the skies were black and ugly. We had one of the most intense thunderstorms I've experienced. I swear it was right over my apartment. The thunder and lightening were amazing, I tried to capture the lightening with my still camera but I am not sure I caught it! The electricity went out for over 2 hours (I pretty much have 24 / 7 power where I live) and there was obviously a problem. The whole city was out at one point! Everywhere I looked (360 degree views) it was black.

By 8 pm the power was on and the rain had stopped! During the storm our temperatures dropped 10 F degrees!

Today: we have overcast skies. It is 28 C and it is humid, with almost no breeze. I am told this pattern could continue for a few days, so expect more showers.

If I understood correctly when I spoke with the electricity company, something or other got hit by lightening.....

Was the rain torrential Carina??? Our was for over 2 hours.

So everyone understand, Carina and I live about 2 km apart here in Puerto Plata.

It can absolutely be the case, we have different stations/plantas..
We had hard rain for about 2 hrs as well... heavy thunder..and on top of it my son was at a pool party!!

I am not sure exactly where you live, but it must be more than 2 km.
Only to Jose Luis supermercado would be 3 for me from downtown.
And you are a few km from there I am sure..
But yes, weather is different sometimes anyway..

Yes we do have different electricity companies.

But what I was referring to really was that even living so close to each other the weather can be different. Not yesterday as that was one massive storm, but other times when you get rain downtown we get none at all near Playa Dorada and vice versa...

What a beautiful day!!! The sky is bright blue, it is over 30 C or 86 F, we have no breeze and almost no clouds in the sky at all!!!

It is a great day to go to the beach. Chris says this will most likely continue through Thursday. OKay, everyone to the beach.................

It has been a stunning day here. It is currently over 32 C and very humid. we have a nice breeze and almost no clouds in the sky.

Well I knew I should have gone to the beach yesterday! Today started out sunny but the clouds are rolling in. I am sure it will rain this afternoon!

It is hot and humid but with a good breeze and cloudy skies.

Remember it is still nicer here then where you are!
