Ocean World in Cofresi, Puerto Plata suffered minor damage during Jeanne. The break-water protection for both dolphin lagoons and the marina held up well during the pounding waves but winds did tear off the new aluminum roofs from the sea lion stadium and the restaurant patio. These can be rebuilt fast as the support beams are still standing.
Some trees in the rainforest were down but more importantly, all animals in the park are fine.
Ocean World will re-open Sunday September 19th in full capacity.
This is nice to hear that the damage was minor. Check out your billboard on the way out of Puerto Plata toward Sosua, just before Playa Dorada - on the right hand side - It looks like an old crumpled tissue
