Question Barcelo Beach Resort

Dolores, you seem to be the best informed so I'm asking you. Any word from Barcelo Beach Resort in Punta Cana. I read that the Palace was open and running but also read that Beach & Casino hotels suffered damages. We're a group of 14 arriving on Oct 10. Does it look good or bad. Thanks

Check out the announcement thread at the top of this (weather and beyond) forum and click on the link. If I'm reading it right, the resort is operating "normally"

You need to check with the hotel. From what I understand the Barcelo Bavaro Beach and the Barcelo Bavaro Casino hotels sustained structural damages. It is possible that these hotels may open some areas, but we do not have hte information. For sure these hotels will be repaired quickly, so you need to check with them directly. As further information becomes available, we will post it.

Default Hotel damages

Not only is DR1 doing and excellent job with getting information but we also have sent out emails to our contacts and have posted information received on a link as well. Both websites are working in cooperation with each other during these hard times in the DR.

see both the following links.

Default Barcelo Bavaro Resort - Punta Cana

This is quite a large resort for those of you that have not been there. My girlfriend works there and I have spoken to her every day since Saturday. Everyone, my gf included, is working long hard hours to cleanup everything. It sounds like everything is in good shape. The services that are under repairs (on the list above) are obvious places of concern i.e. golf couse-flooded, La Uva - on the beach and light construction (grass huts). Some grass roofs but the structures there are solid and most things are returning to normal. If you are going there next week I'm sure you will have a great time...wish I was going, miss my girlfriend like crazy. If anyone from Ontario is going, please let me know. I would like to send her something and mail just isn't possible there...

Thanks,
