Default Barcelo Bavaro Resort Status?

Hi there

I am sorry for crossposting, as I dont really know, which part of the forum is the appropriate.

Our tour operator has booked Barcelo Bavaro Beach Hotel for us. As we got to know now, this hotel has been closed.
Our tour operator offered us to upgrade to Barce Bavaro Palace for the same price, initially. However they now claim, that the facility at Barcelo Bavara Resort is not in a good condition. They are telling us that the beach is dirty and messy.

They are now trying to talk us into changing to another resort in the Punta Cana area (Riu). We however would rather go to Barcelo Bavaro Resort.

Can anybody of you give a quick status summary, how conditions really are in Barcelo Bavaro Resort?

I would appreciate a quick response, as we are scheduled to leave for Punta Cana this Friday.

Thank you in advance!

Regards,
Marc

Read the Weather & Beyond Forum to read posts from returning tourists and the hotel management themselves on facilities that are offered. If you are getting an upgrade to the Palace go for it. Clean up operations are for the most part over in the area, so the beach should be its lovely self. There will be less restaurant options to choose from with the Golf and Casino under repair, but there will be plenty at the Beach, Palace and Caribe complexes resorts. Note that many hotels take advantage of insurance money to renovate, considering that September, October and time in November is low season, made slower by the hurricane, and are closed not necessarily because they suffered major damages.
