Default This post is the 'Beyond' part - no more Pluto

We only have 8 planets now. The International Astronomical Union stripped Pluto of its status as a planet.

No more of this little fella - stripped of his status after all these years!

That means that what they were calling the 10th planet is not going to make it either. In fact they were thinking of adding three bodies that circle the sun the category of planet.
Interesting, no XENA, no whatever they were going to call it beyond Xena, and no astroid belt planet, and no Pluto.

But our Pluto will live forever.!!

Only loosely connected... I'm told that Mars is going to be historically close this Sunday, eastern sky, 10p.m. or so.

Pluto was a wannabe, arriviste, good riddance.

Yes, Pluto is now a dwarf planet, part of a new category of trans-Neptunian objects. Ceres and Xena will join Pluto as dwarfs.

"Pluto was the Roman god of wealth and the counterpart of the Greek Plouton, for the riches found under the Earth's surface and from which we get "plutocrats" and "plutocracy."

I guess we plundered most of the riches under the earth's surface by now (oil and so on,) so, this is prophetic justice for Pluto to become a trans-Neptunian Dwarf.

There is either a Classic Greek Tragedy or a rock-rolling science fiction somewhere in these facts.
