October has been a good month, thanks to conditions being unfavorable for tropical storm development. The last time that there was no tropical system in October was 1994.
In 1995, the tropical activity in the Atlantic entered into an active phase with at least one tropical system in October of each year until 2006. The quietest year was 2002 with only one. That year like this year we were under the effects of El Niño. The most active October since 1995 was last year, with 7 tropical events. This includes 4 hurricanes, 2 of them intense, one depression and one unnamed storm.
