Do I dare say, once more, that it looks like it's on it's way out?

Weather reports are for the sun to be out on Friday. I am optimistic in Santo Domingo we will be able to feel an improvement tomorrow afternoon. Again, this tropical wave is moving, not stagnant. Note that Punta Cana reported a sunny day today.

Some reasonably good photos I took this afternoon, posted to my blog, and a link to a selection of much better ones by Pedro.

Default Thanks re info on Noel

Many thanks to all for being so informative re: Noel. I am happy to say my friends family and property in Sabaneta are safe and sound as well as those in Santo Domingo. Now starts the big job of helping those not so fortunate. We have allready started collecting clothing etc. here. Thanks again you people are "the best".

Thanks vegasdiva for the video link. They appear to have put it back........!! Very odd, definitely disappeared earlier in afternoon when I was looking for it. It is back showing on sacandamelao & remolacha as well, & it had disappeared from both those sites also.............

Delighted windrifter that your family & friends are ok.

I see that COE is asking for anyone with boats near Bajo Yuna to help with evacuation efforts

The rain run off from the mountain is now hitting rivers and flooding some of the Puerto Plata barrios, specifically Mirador del Sur, Cristo Rey, Los Sufridos, Urbanización Oliva, Los Reyes, Los Maestros, Ginebra Arzeno, Los Bordas, Los Domínguez, El Javillar, Los Rieles, San Antonio, and Vista Bella de San Marcos.

We live on the third floor of a four-storey building in a fairly sheltered location in Santo Domingo, so we were never too concerned about our home and were just heaving a sigh of relief that the heavy rains seemed to have finally finished when we came home this afternoon to find lots of water dripping into the bedrooms and bathrooms and our bedroom ceiling fallen onto the bed and the floor. How the water has gotten into the ceiling, we're still not sure. Tonight we're sleeping on a borrowed mattress on the living room floor. Still, we should count ourselves lucky - we still have a roof over our heads, electricity, food, water (of the useable, from-the-tap kind), all our possessions and our lives.

1:30 AM and just walked around the property bareback and it's warm and comfy.
Noel must be on it's way out with it's drizzly cold.
