I got it - made me laugh anyway!

How's thing's in SD today - my hubby's family are there and he's starting to get a bit worried I think (we're in UK).

It's not like he would be in danger, or anything.
We're just inconvenienced and wet.
All should be well by the end of tomorrow.

ROCKY--it's bad down here. 4000 people in the mountains have been evacuated and we are still getting hit with lots of rain (pounding) and wind. We have trees falling over, the Metro billboard flew off (metal and all) and landed on a roof, and the flooding is closing many streets even to trucks and jeeps. People with beach front property are watching their sand disappear.

I suspect that those in well off areas of the capital will be fine if they stay put, but if people need to be outside, it is pretty brutal. A neighbor had a wicker chair fly into a window and break it. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for that - he spoke to them yesterday and they said it was raining but don't think we quite realised how wet it was! Nice to hear you're all in high spirits still - just to make you all feel a little better, its really cold here in UK right now and not nice at all

Thanks again for the update

My husbands family are in the Herrera area of SD - any idea what it's like there?

I realize how bad it is.
Matilda made it quite clear, but Kate's family are in Santo Domingo.

Tomorrow will have newspapers and TV full of shots of mudslides, broken bridges and other unfortunate incidents. Just wait until things unfold in Haiti with its bare mountainsides!! Prayers and prayers.

We were somewhat close to there yesterday afternoon. It didn't look too bad--normal flooding with stuck cars, full trash bags floating down the street--but you might want to find someone who is right there today. Most of our flooding came over night. We sent the boys to school not realizing how bad SPM was and the bus returned 10 min later with them on it. Good luck!
