I've just heard that someone I know, in the village of Los Cacaos in Cambita, San Cristobal, has had his house and vehicle swept away by the river. He and his family escaped unharmed, but eight other people have died in the area.

I have planned a vacation to DR in early December. We are supposed to stay at the Coral Hamaca Resort in Boca Chica, very near Santo Domingo. It looks like Santo Domingo got hit pretty hard. Does anyone know about the amount of damage to the Boca Chica area?
My friend and I would like to bring some donations down with us for the people affected by Noel. Does anyone know what we should bring, and where we can drop the donations off when we arrive?
There are many investors and developers looking at how the government responds to this unexpected calamity. For all the nay sayers and from what I'm hearing I believe that the country is pulling together. The communications is up in Barahona and the bridges are being repaired. It remains to be seen how the displaced are going to receive assistance to have their homes rebuilt.
Hi all, we are leaving for our Punta Cana vacation next Sunday, Nov. 11. We are wondering if Punta Cana was affected by Noel at all and what the weather will be like by the time we get there. Should we cancel our trip trip until the rain subsides or will it not be too bad? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
