Default Earthquake felt in Santo Domingo, 3pm

Felt the shake in our office at Gustavo Mejia Ricart avenue. Will check to see what it rated.

See yesterday there was one in the Leeward Islands, tracked here.

There was a M 7.3 just off Martinique at 3pm today, far away from us, but not impossible that some here felt such a strong quake several hundreds of miles away.
CNN reports that since the quake happend 80 miles deep in the ocean, no tsunami is expected. No damage reports yet from Martinique and / or Dominica. Hope they are all fine.

No tsunami threat which is amazing for a 7.4 magnitude, waves are running due west from quake area.

Wow! That's some scary stuff...

Is this sort of thing related to the strange weather the world has been having lately?

Or is this a fairly common occurrence in the DR?

(Sorry if this seems an obvious question to some...)
