The waters reached past the Palace of Justice, down by the ball park and Social Security Hospital...
My niece just told me that there was no official warning of the flooding. A friend called and told her that they had lost everything.

One death just reported in Rafey, and the guards at the jail are being evacuated. By Tractors!!

Cool

Punta Cana had heavy rains and winds all day yesterday and last night . This morning the sun is out...looks like a beautiful day to go to the beach.

At the beach at 6:30 this morning there was clear blue sky, beautiful sunrise and more beach than before. The storm indeed "pumped" sand up the beach.

Many roads are flooded but not to a level that you cannot get through.

Power is on and airport working normally.

Thanks Flora. I hope that there are no damage to local and tourist houses (and to the golf courses too).

Have a little decency, FromItaly.
Your concern for your vacation this Friday, the tourist houses, and golf courses is noted. We hope you enjoy yourself on the beach and there are no twigs to be moved out of your way in order to putt.

Others of us have concerns for friends, family, neighbors, and those that are struggling with flooding and other damage. Please excuse us if we focus on that for a little while.

CFA123, I have many friends in the area, so don't worry, I am thinking to those living there. And I was just making a small joke to try lighten up the atmosphere.

FromItaly,
Excuse me if I'm a little touchy. I'm watching tv of the flooding in Santiago & checking in with friends via phone. They're reporting trees down and other minor damage in Sosua/Cabarete areas. Unfortunately no one I've talked to so far has ventured out very far from home so extent of damage isn't known yet.

I'm told of flooding in Sabaneta, lots of trees down between Sosua & Cabarete, and some damage to businesses on Cabarete beach. Again, don't know the extent yet. Electricity off in Cabarete, cellular service still functioning.

Default off and on rain in Juan Dolio....under very grey skies!

We had lots of bands of wind and rain pass through overnight but nothing like some of the thunderstorms I've seen in previous years.
Rain fluctuates from a light drizzle to a steady downpour but it isn't raining buckets like it does sometimes!
So far JD seems to have missed most of it.......I'll have a report from Los Conucos as soon as my maid arrives. I would think they're under water and mud as the rain has been steady with an accumulation of about 3-4 inches so far.(rough guess as I'm looking at how high the artificial mosquito breeding lagoona across the street has risen).
