Default Juan Dolio dry under now cloudy skies!

Not much of a breeze (no worse than the last week) however some stronger gusts from time to time.
Looking very dark out to sea (south) but we're cool (yeah!) dry and a lot less humid than earlier.
PapaTony was in SPM this morning and said it was raining heavily there but nada here in JD.

Looking at Weather.Com and the Caribbean Satellite, the storm is passing NORTH of the Dominican Republic according to the satellite view. And I looked at it earlier today around noon because when I got home my wife Claribel told me to expect problems from the storm.

I know I am getting old, but please tell me I am correct.

(PS: I did not read this entire thread)

Sub-tropical storms like Olga have wind and rain usually far removed from the center of the storm-formation. The National Hurricane Center says "THE STRUCTURE OF OLGA...WITH ITS STRONGEST WINDS LOCATED STILL 100-200 NMI FROM CENTER...CONTINUES TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THAT OF A SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE."

This would mean that the north coast of the DR and possibly even the Turks and Caicos would get the majority of wind a rain. Satellite images seem to confirm this.

Downpour now in Santo Domingo. I would assume by now it is raining nationwide. Interesting observation by Conchman, that the north coast will get heavier rains than the south, despite the storm passing closer to the south.

Just talked to the El Catey airport in Samana on the northeast coast and was told it is not raining there yet. The airport is open to flights.

So much for the saying "Seeing is believing".

That satellite image is definitely confusing, guess I will have to stick to just looking at the "hurricane" satellite images, since they seem to be where you see them on the map. lol

I told my wife there was no problem, because I showed her how it was passing North of the DR.

WRONG!!!!!!!!

Rain picked up here in the last 25 minutes (4:45pm). I seem to be controlling it, every time I go out to the yard to try to work a little, the rain comes back.

I'm in Sosua and the rain and wind has picked up quite a bit; though it's been doing this on and off all day. It's 5:30 and we wait and see.
