Yes, look at the satellite pictures and the counterclockwise direction of the spin. If you are standing in the SW corner, everything will be coming at you from the west and moving east

we spent the afternoon on the beach, even had some sun out.
it is dark cloudy right now, wind completely dead, the clouds move from the west south west, the opposite as usual.
PC will not get big effects, i expected anyways some rain tonight, looks like that will happen, but still dry, Ocean flat, no wind.
i will have my new wetaher outlook ready around 8:30PM.
Ike should be very close to his closest waypoint to Puerto Plata,
but really did not check my charts since the afternoon.

Ike is a category 4 storm now, so winds are at more than 135 miles per hour.
The predictive picture remains the same as previously reported.

Thanks for the reports. Please remain vigilant tonight.

Hurricanes turn counter clock wise... You/we being on the Southern end of it will only experience clouds going East.
See the picture in my previous post.

... J-D.

Oh... I see I was not the only one responding while others where doing the same... well, you got a consensus.

Rain in POP at 19:45 is spotty right now... electricity goes on and off in half hour steps... leaves you wonder how the do that .

he is intesifying very fast,
went in a few hours from 115-135mphr.
his small center/instable eyewall will hold that incresing power not for a long time and collapse, so the replacement would be a much wider center area and it would be located most likely south of the actual eyewall, bringing the rain more south within hours. he runs at this moment over 29.5C waters, his windshear collapsed from former 25 down to just 15 knots and will be less than 10 knots during tonight. that are perfect conditions for that bastard, he will be huge and his rain may jump more southwards. looks like he stays on his former time shedule, nearest to puerto plata in around 2 hrs, he is still on WSW course at around 14mphr.
the heaviest rain for the north did by far not start, yet.
and i expect strong watering for PC in the late night/morning.
new model data will come in 00:00-1:00Zulu, 8PM-9PM tonight, i am still waiting for that with more actual updates on his movement.
Mike
