So the rains did come Sunday afternoon and all through the night. Had never seen so much rain in years. It loooked like it was snowing, it was so dense. So, Ike just accumulated all the rains to pour them all down Sunday afternoon and through the night. The rains did come.

We saw the sun this morning now it's just grey but no rain. The streets are filled with garbage and debris; the busy-bees (yellow and black street workers) will have lots to do.

there are no exact weather predictions 2 weeks in advance,
the 22nd is far away.
PC had a sunny afternoon,
today(monday) sun been out early and still is,
no clouds around,
we run 86F/30C,
just perfect weather.
Ocean is calm,
low 6knots breeze from the usual East.
we have a rain front SE of Puerto Rico and we have the formation(former named Josephine ENE of Puerto Rico.
the southern is nothing else than rain and will most likely not even come close to PC.
Josephine is nearly dead since 3 days and will face unfavorable conditions during the next 2-4 days on its WNW track. if it comes back alive it will pass over 200 miles north of Puerto Rico and not effect Punta Cana in any way.
the weather sites show PC actually as:
partly/mostly cloudy,
chances of rain 90%,
to hell with 'em.
the true weather as a matter of fact is what i wrote a few lines above,
i will sure not see any raindrop today over here.
Ike is on the track i expected since days, the Eye replacement luckily for DR occured after he passed our north.
one of the hardest hits in Cuban history ever, i am really happy that none of the low possibilities for a earlier southwards turn came true, he would've been the most fatal hit for our island.
he will itensify in the gulf of mexico,
min 30C water temps and the hot loopcurrent around,
very favorable wind shear of less than 10knots awaited there for the next days,
i say he will need max 10-12 hours over the Gulf to be back as a strong Cat2 or a weak Cat3.
and i say Louisiana will get an other load of rain with at least tropical storm force winds. he will hit somewhere on the west coast of Louisiana and in the hours before the landfall he will degrease no more than 15-20mphr due to the high pressure over the souther US.
for the rest of the Atlantic between Cape Verde and the eastern caribbean we have just some clouds, the usual rain for this time of the year, let it rain out there. no formation in sight, no favorable conditions for a new one to form up for the next 3-5 days.
sat shots over central Africa show perfectly clear skies, nothing on it's way towards the Cape Verde Islands.
---------------
and now to our intelligent Dominican government:
We have here on the East Coast, PUNTA CANA, TODAY, monday september 8th 2008, RED ALERT!!!!!
those su... should get made to pay their salary back, all of 'em.
THE REASON for the alert:
Hurricane/tormenta Josephine!!!!!!
well,
i think no need to add anything on that advise.
no yacht is allowed to fish today,
watersports centers are not allowed to go diving, snorkeling,
the excursion catamarans are ankered and not allowed to move.
we have Sea conditions of less than 3ft offshore, flat inshore, wind is a light 6knots, that's half windspeed and half waveheight than usual on a regular september day!!!!
maybe it is still raining in the Capital, so thos a$$'s in their governmental offices down there think Ike passed by 2 nights ago, that rain today can only be the beginning of "Josephine".
yes, i am pi$$ today,
after a week without work an other 2K$ gone on a perfect calm Monday.
i hate to write that, but needed to.
feels better now.
will take a couple cold ones now and see if they pick my call after i told them anything but nice at the Marines Head this morning.
and i did not stay family friendly like i have to on a travel bord.
enjoy your days
Mike

Grand Palladium Punta Cana 9/13-20/2008
Hi everyone,
I am going to Punta Cana the coming Sat Sept 13. I checked out the weather network and they are calling for chance of t-showers everyday. If it rains does it last all day? Will I still be able to do my water activities outdoor? If there is a hurricane on its way then I would cancel my trip. Any predictions for 13-20?
Thanks,
Amy
