Question Should I cancel my honeymoon?

I have never been to the DR before, this is both mine and my husbands first time. We are going to Punta Cana and we will be there from Sept. 21 - Oct. 5 for our honeymoon. I am so scared that our honeymoon will get cancelled because of the hurricane season. Does anyone think that I should cancel my trip or is Punta Cana not affected by hurricanes? I don't ever recall hearing of a hurricane that destroyed Punta Cana, but then again what do I know. Any advice, or feedback is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!

No one can forecast the weather that far in advance. But, no, you should not cancel your honeymoon. The odds are loaded in your favor that you will have good weather.
And you could always get travel insurance, for that slight chance. Then you will get a 2 x 1. The opportunity to watch one of nature's most spectacular shows and another vacation somewhere else.

Don't cancel Anna.

I have a trip planned to the DR for three weeks right smack in the middle of hurricane season. I've been to the DR in Sep many times and have never had to experience one. Like Dolores said, you can't predict these storms.

additionally, depending on your airline, you will get reimbursed or a voucher if your trip is canceled due weather.
also check with your hotel as far as their cancellation policy or if this is a package, your travel agent...

Thanks guys!! I am keeping my fingers crossed that we have good weather. To be honest with you I am more worried about not having any sun than the hurricanes. I think it would be an amazing experience to go through something like that. I'm from Toronto Canada and the only show that I have witnessed by mother nature is -50C and tons of snow, oh and did I mention we had to call in the army to help in clearing the roads a few years back? HAHAHAHA
