Default Tropical Waves forming in the Atlantic

The season has been quiet up to now but I see that there are a few waves forming. We should keep an eye on them

Looks like we we are up for a bit of wet weather. If INVEST 97 develops then we could be near a CAT 1 see Tropical Storm: Computer Model Hurricane Forecasts : Weather Underground

what was prior numbered 97L been a disturbance in the middle of dry air over around 2000 kilometers east of Punta Cana, we will not even get a cloud out of that.
what concerns more is the lil wave east SE of Puerto Rico, not numbered/named and neither on a chance to develop in anything, but it is a little rainload and will pure down a lot on the east and south of PR, we will most likely get our share of that water here on the DR east coast, too.
no winds over 20 knots expected til now, no nothing to worry,
2 cloudy days, one with MayBe heavy rain, and life will still be good.
enjoy the weekend

Do you think a tropical storm will push some Dorado up to the North Coast as I have not seen any Mahi for sale in the streets for a long time in Sosua?

Blackened Dolphin and Hurricanes are what it's all about!

hey,
we had a lil hole with the mahis down here also, end may and throu most of june we caught just few,
but luckily they started again to move up lately.
but not the same than last year, by far not.
the big trawlers outh there from the big Bro USA and his brothers Korea and Japan aso are bringing big and unrepairable damage to our top fishing grounds.
we also feel that on the so important Billfish population,
and such is not a DR specific problem,
if the migrating Billfishes get killed at one spot they are during their 'season' missed throuout the whole caribbean.
that's why i still laugh about the lately brought out "decreto 242009" from the dominican environment secretary, it prohibits to kill or commercialize/sell any Billfish caught within a specific area over here on the east, it even tells what kind of hooks we are allowed to use to target those fishies and what hook settings would be 'illegal'.
damn,
an order/rule/law made by idiots without a clue what the heck they are talking about.
sportfishing boats down here do sure not have influence on not even 1% or max 2% of the mortality rate of the 'wandering throu/breeding' Billfish family.
the by law marked area covers national waters up to 12 nautical miles off the coast.
nice joke.
we target Big Billfishes much farer than that off the coast,
and the big commercial kiling trowlers kill everything outside of that anyways not fished area since ever.
the DR is in theory a great example:
our island/gubmin does not give to anybody the license for longlining/commercial netting in sovereign dominican waters.
the big prob on that just is the matter of fact that the island has only til 12nmls off the beaches of sovereign local waters.
so the big brothers from up there on the north and the Asians can do what ever they want to and where ever they want to.
our national waters should get marked as a 200 nautical miles zone like i.e. Canada and others have their surrounding waters marked,
then our "Billfish saving law" extended to 'full national territory' instead of just a joking small breeding area,
then we would be a big example and would have a chance to go on as one of the caribbeans finest Billfish sportfishing destinations, which we in case of White Marlin still are, but just still, an other 2-4 years the way the big countries kill everything out there and that will be gone for the next century or maybe forever.
Yes,
i know,
when talking to his friends Chavez or Obama our Boss Leonel has sure other stuff in mind than a world's top sportfishery to make spots like Cap Cana Marinas or Westin RocoKi Marinas moving one day.

o.k.,
i sut tfu for now,
been a midnight rant, lol
sometimes needed
nite

Mike good info. Are there any organizations that would put some pressure on the government to increase the sport fishing area? Does Fernandez have the authority to increase the area?

Tks
