Great stay, family owned and operated beach front hotel and very reasonable rates, they also have suites availible. I Always stay at hostal zapata when i go to Boca chica and D.R. for that matter. The staff is great and alway will try to meet all your needs as best as they can. Jose is usually at the bar speaks about 4 languages and makes you feel right at home. The cleanest place on the beach its literally on the beach so thats great.

very very good, just typed everything in description by accident. good people nice experience!!!!1

I had a wonderful time staying at Hotel Zapata. I stayed with the O'Brien family and we all had a very enjoyable stay. the beach was absolutely beautiful and we had wonderful service with having our chairs set up for us each morning....Thank you for providing us with great service.

Simple, very clean, small family owned hotel, conveniently located on the beach! Rooms are above average for a hotel in this category, with multichannel TV, air conditioning and great water pressure in the showers! (We had no hot water in the sink, though). Even though it is in the quieter area of Boca Chica, rooms are not sound proof and any hallway noise in the main hotel building carries into your room. Staff are friendly. The breakfast could definitely be improved with some fresh fruit, cereal and better toasted bread for a couple of extra $$. All in all, good hotel for a short stay.

I have stayed a the Hotel Zapata 5 times and it has been wonderful each time. All the staff is great, very friendly and always willing to help in any way possible. Martha, the owner is the best. She is always around and speaks English. Martha has always made my stay the best. This is not a big hotel and not the fanciest, but has what you need for a few days stay to however long you wish to stay. The best part is sitting under the hut drinking your favorate drink with great conversation with the locals or the staff at Hotel Zapata. I recommend it highly to anyone who just wants to go and relax and be treated like a queen.

my stay at hostal zapata was excellent. as other's have mentioned, it is right on the beach. And the beach is one of the prettiest beaches I've ever set foot on. The water was crystal clear and the perfect tempature. I was traveling with two of my best friends and we even went swimming at night. The beach was well lit, and since it's a lagoon, we weren't fearful of any sharks! The staff made our stay memorable. Especially Robert who is a New York native. The rooms are clean and the decor is tropical-like. There is a great club within walking distance called the Jamaca. But to really enjoy the island's nightlife, we took a cab to the city which was about a 15 minute ride. The best part of the trip was how unbelievably economical it was. two thumbs up. I've recommended this place to anyone I hear is going to D.R, and look forward to my future stay. I currently work at a hotel in nyc, and know a good place when i see one. the same friends i went with on the first trip have been back three times! p.s they gave great massages on the beach and they sold some of the best tasting dishes on the beach as well. Two thumbs up for Hostal Zapata!! thanks for the memorable experience!

Boca Chica is very nice. Hotel Zapata is located right on the beach and a short walk from the town nightlife. However, pay close attention to detail when checking in. I found that the windows did not lock and that the screen showed signs of someone attempting to break in. I changed rooms. Windows locked just fine in second room. Awoke to find no water. TV, on the other hand, if you chose to watch, provided you with more channels than most hotels.
