This resort is an excellent value! Lobby is beautiful, open-air design. Rooms are spacious in a bungalow setting featuring private balconies/terraces, mini bar & liquor dispenser. Landscaping is lush, full of palms, banana trees, hibusicus etc. 2 pools, one w/swim-up bar & stone jacuzzi. lots of pool loungers, towel service w/ resort. Beach is breathtaking- fine almost sugar-white sand, lots of plams- so you can choose from direct sun or bask in the shade of a swaying palm. Always a breeze on the beach- very, very relaxing. again lots of loungers on the beach, plus changing cabanas & showers to rinse off the sand and salt water. Entertainment staff is non-stop! Water aerobics, merengue lessons, beach volleyball, water polo, crazy games, shows almost everynight. Great beach party on Monday nights! Oh, the food... plentiful. Breakfast is more than you can possibly choose from - wonderful fresh fruits, fresh squeezed juices (my favorite was the papya/banana/cantaloupe), breads galore, awesome pate and the cafe con leche is just decadent. Meals in the main dining room, The Colonial, are impressive for buffet style- cooking stations, 2 soups per dinner, massive salad/cold bar, great desserts, help yourself to the wine & beer. Lunch & breakfast just as good. burgers & hot dogs are not quite up to par with the American versions- but hey, you ARE in a foreign country! Bartenders are efficient, friendly and entertaining. Be sure to choose a couple of tours on your stay- the Bavarro Runners tour is fabulous! Also- you can use the facilities at the other RIU resorts in the complex (Taino, Melao, & Naiboa) but the Palace is exclusivly for RIU Palace guests. Kind of strange since they can use all of the other resorts' facilities. Casino is at Palace- you can use that. Never made is to the disco on the RIU Caribbean street- but DID take advantage of the Spa on the street- wonderful couples massage! We're definitely coming back to the DR and to RIU Bambu!

The hotel was beautiful. Most of the workers were amazing, especially jr. who is a bartender at the bar.
A couple of down sides were that the beds are very hard and there casino is a scam. I heard from few peolpe that the casino tried to cheat them. WARNING.. stay away from Progressive Roulette(google it before your trip). There is no way of winning, they cheat while counting up the numbers and you will only leave with a maxed out bank account. The hotel itself was wonderful i just wish someone would have told us to stay out of the casinio

the resort is very nice and clean, the pools are lush. as 4 the weather it is beuatiful! There r lots of palm treese but r high up so its not windy at all. the beach ois gorgous as for th white sand. the sand gets hot but feeels lovely. the drinks at the club are great but the beer is quite gassy. the carribean street is a great place to shop, it has all the designer labels! the hotel has a lot of tourist but they r very friendly. The entertainment at the hotel is very amusing.

Have been to the Dominican 3 time each time staying at the RIU Bambu. We will be visiting again on December 3rd 2005 for two weeks again.(Just there in Feb 2005) I cannot say enough about the people at this resort. The Director Wellington is fabulous. He will take care of your every need. Mi familia that work the bar: Antonio, Joselo, Manuel, Wanel, Javier at the pool bar, Bonafacio, and especially Jeanette Guerro mi amiga all of them are extra fabulous. The rooms are very clean and some of the balcony veiws are to die for. Dont forget to see Cheepee Cheepee the sales guy at the little hut by the pool. The art work by the onsite artist Johnny is fabulous. The thusday night party on Carribbean street is a must do. And a beer or a cocktail on the balcony of the pink pizza place... heaven. When we are away we cant wait t return. We are actively seeking property to be able to return there as our winter home. To my family at the Riu Bambu... Amour! and see you all this Christmas!

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at this resort from 5 Sept 04 through 13 Sep 04. I can not possible say enough great things about the RIU Bambu. The bungalow room was amazing with its in room bar. The service was outstanding! From the time our shuttle pulled up to the resort we were treated like royalty. We found the same treatment where ever we went, at the bars, at the restaurants, etc. AMAZING!!!! The beach was one of the most beautiful I have seen anywhere. If you are looking for this kind of service and ammenities in a resort that is not over touristy, then pick the RIU Bambu. We will be there again nesxt year!!!

We stayed at this hotel 12-20-03 thru 12-24-03. Very well pleased with this resort. Very beautiful beaches with lots of palm trees for shade -- very tropical and lush setting. Not much windsurfing equipment. No nearby town to visit so plan on staying in the resort. Beautiful pools and grounds. Would go again anytime. Have fun!!!
