we just got back from a four day stay at the el marinique in las galeras. it was suppose to just be a three day stay but we liked it so much we added another day because we did not want to leave!the owners andy and nicole were great they made us feel at home from the start .there are three diff. types of rooms from cottages to deluxe apartments.we had a cottage the room was nice and clean and had a constant cool breeze we had no need of air con.while we were there.the resturant /bar was great nicole is a great chef and there is somthing on the menue for everyone from steaks to seafood all of it is excellent! andy can set up any tour around the samana area we went whale watching (jan-march)and saw about fifteen whales !we also rode horses to the el limon waterfall. the hotel is just a few yards from the beach and about a two min. walk from the town .when we go back to the samana peninsula the el marinique is the place we will stay!!

This place is dirty, dingy, and creepy. You pass a dirty mule on the way to the restaurant. Direty plastic chairs and a ripped tarp for cover. Unless you are a "camper" I wouldn't even suggest a cup of coffee here.

Two times WOW!
Karla you must be talking about a diferent hotel becaus the el Marinique we stayed in September was nothing like what you say. The cottages are clean an neat and placed Dominican and they are in a nice garden that looks the bay. They are the cheepest hotel on the sea we found in Las Galeras. Good breakfast too.
How can you compare this to the casa Gri-Gri that is on the noisy corner in town and has a car junkyard behind the rooms?
The Las Galeras beach is a minute away 100m from the hotel. We saw lot of dogs during the vacation and I can say these are the healthie dogs. They also be happy and greet us evry day.
When we read what you write we wonder what personal problem you have?

I would not even consider Elmarinique to be anything close to a 'Resort' - it is one level above camping with 3 cabanas (read shacks)
Be careful, this is NOT a place for young people or people of any age wanting to see Samana Peninsula, the web site is extremely misleading.
It is not on a Las Galeras beach, unsanitary, and over priced. I would not recommend this place to anyone, it is Dominicain Republic at it's worst. Two big dogs in desperate need of care are at home in this place, no tourists. Whent in and out in less then 10 minutes, stay at Gri-Gri for half price in excelent facilities.
