My trip was for business. I found the rooms accommodating and staff provided me with dial-up access to a local Internet Service Provider (ISP). By the decor and class of the hotel, I was surprised that it did not have high speed internet available to each room. The tower rooms are very comfortable. A large desk and spacious room. In room safe was easy to use and accomodating. I was able to fit a laptop computer inside it. Front desk staff was easy to communicate with. I know very little spanish and found it easy to communicate with the staff. They are very friendly and quite helpful.

Ok, so it was not all business. I found the pool quite refreshing, but surprised there was no whirlpool or jacuzzi. The landscaping of the hotel is beautiful. An excellent value.

Jaraqua was once a very nice hotel but now it has turned out to be an overprice and overratted dump. The outside grounds are beautiful, the CHAMPS restaurant and the people who work there are very goog. However the place is showing its aged, the hallways are dark and dingy, the rooms need to be upgraded. The televisions only work part of the time, there isn't a coffemaker in the room. The walls of the rooms are thin so you hear everything in other rooms and in the hallways. The casino is way below average and the workers there are like the fast food workers here in NY, basically allot of attitude with no service. My last visit was maybe my 10th time (and last) that I've stayed at the hotel. I've watched it go downhill at a rapid pace. The security staff accused me and my finance (twice) of not be hotel guests (I was told later because we looked Dominican, which I consider a compliment). I addressed this sitiuation with Hotel management and they just don't care not even an apology they just want your money. Instead of the Jaraqua stay at either the Hilton, Melia, Intercontinental or Occidental (Avenida Santiago).

I found the Executive floor confortable, the swimming pool great, and without children. The gym is average, and you must bring your own towels.
The hotel is about 15 years old and aging gracefully, ask for upgrades!
