This use to be my favorite hotel but after my recent experience I will never return to it. The hotel is not as clean as I remember it from my previous stays. The rooms have a musty smell, the mattresses and bed sheets need to be thrown out. The same goes for the towels which are never sufficient stock…
We stayed at the hotel for a week in August of 2008 and experienced a flood from broken pipes in the bathroom. Our entire luggage was soaked and it took lots of stressful phone calls and high anxiety to get the hotel management to change us to another room.
Two days later we had another flood in the other room… There was also a blackout at the hotel that lasted for over four hours.
The place is seriously understaffed and the service is horrible. We also saw plenty of prostitutes working the lobby and beach area. This is not a place to bring your family… there are many other better hotel options in the country. The best way to bring positive change to this hotel is by boycotting it until a new management is able to correct the problems.
It is too bad because the hotel has a beautiful Art Deco structure that dates back to the late 1940s and the beach is a beautiful Pacific-style lagoon.
