How can I renew my US passport while in the DR?
Solution
If your passport is not damaged, has been issued within the past 15 years, received it after the age of 16 and have the same name you are able to renew your passport at the US Embassy in Santo Domingo without an interview.
You must:
- Fill out application DS82, which you can get online or at the Consulate
- Attach two 2x2 photos
- Bring the expired passport, with a copy of the bio page
- Bring a second form of I.D. and a copy
- And pay the fees (US$67 for passport plus US$12 dollars for delivery within Santo Domingo or US$16 dollars for delivery outside of Santo Domingo)
Your passport will be delivered via courier service within three weeks.
US Embassy passport offices (at the Consulate) are open from 10am to 11am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
