Can I take my child's father's name of the birth certificate?

Answer

You cannot take the father's last name out of the children's legal
names. It will be always part of their names unless: a) a court takes
it away as a result of a suit claiming the father was not the real
father; or b) the children themselves change their names when they
reach legal age.
