Santo Domingo Music Festival
The biannual Santo Domingo Musical Festival opens 9 March at the National Theater. This year’s 10 days of presentations are dedicated to Spain. On the program are performances by mezzosoprano Tereza Berganza; soprano Elena de la Merced, tenor Israel Lozano, baritone Josep-Miquel Ramon, singer-composer Esperanza Fernandez, violinist Dan Zhu, guitarrist Jose Maria Gallardo del Rey, the Antonio Marquez company, the director of the Orquesta Virginia Martinez, Catalan orchestra Cadaques, and the orchestra of the Festival. The festival is produced by French music conductor Philippe Entremont, who is the director of the Chamber Orchestra of Viena. Tickets are already for sale at the National Theater.
Miller Grand-AM Cup
The Miller Grand-Am Cup will be held on the Las Americas Race Track located on the outskirts of Santo Domingo this coming 12-13 March. Speed racers from the United States, Canada, Europe and some Dominicans will participate. 20 teams and 35 cars, and some 100 drivers are expected. This is part of the 2005 circuit that races in the United States. The GS competition is a track of 250 miles and three hours duration, with Grand Sport vehicles with motors of 400 and 450 horse power. Vehicles competing will be BMW M3, Ford Mustang, Cadillac, Pontiac Firebird, GTO, Porsche 996 and Nissan 350Z. Event will take place at the Las Americas Race Track that has normal capacity for 4,000 persons. The track's capacity will be increased to 15,000 for the event. The event is organized by the Grand American Road Racing Association and sponsored by Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana, distributor of Miller beer in the DR.

Noemi Weis for DR tourism in Canada
Noemi Weis to handle DR for Canada Advertising/Filmblanc is in charge of the Dominican Republic account for the Canadian market. Weis is a communication company based out of Toronto, Canada that services clients in Canada and abroad. Their services include full service advertising, branding, media and design. Filmblanc is an international film production company.
