New golf project in La Romana
La Estancia Golf Resort is a brand new golf and tourism project in El Limon, La Romana. Cignal Corp of Maryland will be in charge of promoting the project to the US market. Coming for the announcement of the project were developers Armando Cignarale and Augusto Avanzini. The promoters announced that P.B. Dye would be designing the 18-hole golf course near the Chavon River. For the residential areas, Cignarale described the design as a combination of Spanish hacienda, California ranch and Mediterranean styles. The project also includes the construction of 1,600 hotel rooms distributed among the modern villas, condominiums and cabanas.
Sting at Altos de Chavon
Tickets to the 26 April Sting presentation have been very hard to get since they went on sale on 27 March. They seem to have been all pre-sold for the presentation at the Altos de Chavon 5,000-sitting auditorium. Sting (Gordon Sumner), the legendary British rock singer of recent "Sacred Love" (2004) fame, will come with Jason Robello (piano), Dominic Miller (guitar), Keith Carlock (drums), Rhani Kriya (percussion), Kipper (synthesizers) and Donna Gardnier and Joy Rose (vocals). Sting is expected to perform both his greatest hits from his days as the lead singer of The Police, his solo career days and his newer hits.

The Lost City in US theaters
Andy Garcia's "The Lost City" premiered Monday, 17 April at the Cinerama Dome theater in Los Angeles. Most scenes were shot in the Dominican Republic, chosen as a look-alike to Havana. The DR's first Miss Universe, Amelia Vega and musicians Isidro Bobadilla, Chocolate and Guarionex Aquino, and Dominican-based cigar businessman Carlos Fuentes Jr. have moments in the film. The Lost City will be shown in New York, Los Angeles and Miami theaters as of 28 April. This is Andy Garcia's debut as a movie director. The film tells the story of Havana in 1958, during the days of the transition from Fulgencio Batista to Fidel Castro. The drama unfolds while the revolutionary forces of Fidel Castro and Ernesto "Che" Guevara prepare to move on the city. The film stars Andy Garcia, Dustin Hoffman, Lorena Feijoo, Bill Murray and Ines Sastre. Garcia himself has described the film as a Latin American "Casablanca."
