|Condohotel Portillo by Prieto
The Consorcio Prieto announced the construction of the Condohotel Portillo, with a US$40 million investment. The project calls for the construction of 206 villas and the development of the Portillo landing field into a larger airport. The developers vie to attract owners of small jets and airplanes that can fly into the residential community with its own beach. The development encompasses an area of 170,000 square meters. Arquitects Gustavo More and Antonio Segundo Imbert have been entrusted with the architectural plans.
The Prieto family was the first to develop a major hotel in the Las Terrenas area, the Portillo Beach Resort, which this year was sold to the Spanish Bahia Principe hotel group.
Samana will have jet service as of this November with the opening of the large airport at El Catey, midway between Samana and Cabrera area.
