|CTO honors Rita Cabrer
A Caribbean Tourism Organization Award of Excellence was presented to Rita Cabrer Botello, for her 40 years in the Dominican tourism publishing industry. She received the award during the 34th Annual Governments of the Caribbean State Ball at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. In 1966, she co-founded with her former husband Luis Augusto Caminero the publication Bohio Dominicano that continues to cover the tourism industry. Caminero in the 50s had launched the publication, "Things you should know," probably the first tourist guide published in the DR. In the 80s, Rita Cabrer would participate with her husband in the launching of La Cotica, a tourism guide published in several languages, continuously funded by the Ministry of Tourism for promoting the Dominican Republic in international markets.
