|La Estancia in DR1 Golf
La Estancia golf course in La Romana, just a short drive from the Casa de Campo resort, Bayahibe resorts and the La Romana International Airport, was recently reviewed and now features in the DR1 Golf Review section. La Estancia is part of a new inland residential development that is under construction on the former site of the El Limon shopping center. The La Estancia course, designed by P B Dye is given a high rating for providing good value in the DR1 golf review section. "At 60 bucks you'll be hard pressed to find a better golf deal in the DR right now. With this layout and these surroundings you're getting a steal," reads the review.
The DR1 golf section now features 18 comprehensive reviews to help golfers choose where they want to play.

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts becomes the first international chain to operate a property at Cap Cana, the luxury vacation community in Punta Cana on the east coast. Wyndham Hotels and Resorts president Peter Strebel announced that the 497-unit luxury property would be known as Green Village at Cap Cana, a Wyndham Grand Bay Resort. The resort is scheduled to open "during the fourth quarter of this year" and will make it easy for golfers to be closer to the increasingly famous Jack Nicklaus Punta Espada golf course.
The resort will feature luxury one-bedroom bungalows, two-bedroom villas and four- to six-bedroom residences built by Cap Cana and managed by Wyndham.
The resort, which joins the brand's Wyndham Grand Collection, represents the chain's third Grand Bay property in addition to the luxury Aura Cozumel, a Wyndham Grand Bay hotel in Cozumel, and the Grand Bay Hotel, Isla Navidad Resort, located on a 1,200-acre private island in Manzanillo, Mexico.
Strebel said the project builds on the lodging chain's 24-resort portfolio in the Caribbean and Mexico, which also includes properties in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, the Bahamas, Cozumel, Riviera Maya and five all-inclusive Viva Wyndham properties in the Dominican Republic.

|Cabarete prepares for kiteboarders
The annual Cabarete Kiteboarding World Cup event is scheduled for 24-29 June at Cabarete Beach. The event is the fourth of ten stops on the Professional Kiteboard Riders Association 2008 World Tour. In addition to its superb beach and natural wind conditions, Cabarete offers a hard-to-beat selection of restaurants and shops, as well as friendly people. Cabarete first made a name for itself as a windsurf destination, and a section of the beach further to the west then evolved to cater for kiteboarding enthusiasts. The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, and US$40,000 in prize money is up for grabs.
