Cabarete Jazz Festival 2009
Enjoy great jazz under the stars. The 10th Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is set to take place in Cabarete, Puerto Plata on Friday, 6 November starting at 8:30pm. The bill includes the Ambar Jazz Group (DR), Ania Paz Jazz Ensemble (Peru & DR) and the Holograma Quintet with Chombo Corniel (PR and USA). On Saturday, 7 November. 8:30pm Felle Vega & Imaginary Folklore (DR) and Antonio Sanchez Quintet (Mexico & USA) will be performing. A saxophonists' encounter takes place on Sunday, 8 November at 9pm with Marco Pignataro Quintet (Italy & USA) and El Canario Jazz Band (DR).
Jonas Brothers in Santo Domingo
The Jonas Brothers are booked for a program that starts at 6:30pm on Sunday, 25 October at the largest stage in the DR, the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium (more than 50,000 fans). Brothers Kevin, Joe and Jick Jonas, winners of the American Music Award, Teen Choice Awards, a MTV Latino and MuchMusic award will appear for Dominican audiences as part of the World Tours 2009. Saymon Diaz is the promoter. The group has included Santo Domingo in their world tour that has taken them to the US, Canada, Europe and Santo Domingo.
Jose Luis Perales at the National Theater
Jose Luis Perales, one of the most famous Spanish songwriters of all times, will perform at the National Theater. With sales of more than 100 million, he will be on stage 30 and 31 October. He is best known for "Celos de mi guitarra," "Ella y el", "Amada mia" and "Por amor". He will present a best hits concert with the best of his 30 year career. He has more than 450 songs to his name.
Santo Domingo to host FCCA in 2010
The 17th Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (F-CCA) Conference & Trade Show will take place in Santo Domingo on 25-29 October. This is the leading event for the cruise industry in Florida and the Caribbean. More than 1,000 cruise industry partners will join 100 Cruise Executives from the FCCA Member Lines to share ideas and discuss industry trends.
Santo Domingo is becoming a major Caribbean cruise ship destination, with the improvement and expansion of the Port of Santo Domingo. The DR's other main ports are the Casa de Campo Port in La Romana and the offshore port in Samana Bay.
The FCCA is a trade association composed of 11 member lines: Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruise Line, Cunard Line, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises (USA) Inc., Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Royal Caribbean International. It was created in 1972 by the member lines operating more than 100 vessels in Florida, the Caribbean, and Mexican waters in order to discuss and exchange views on issues related to legislation, tourism development, ports, safety, security, and other cruise industry issues.
