Butterflies in Jarabacoa
There is a new reason to visit the mountain town of Jarabacoa.
The Papillon Garden is the country's first Butterfly Park at Rancho Baiguate. Learn about the varieties and marvel at their intricate color and design combinations.
The park exhibits six species of butterflies of two families that are very common and frequent all year round nationwide, primarily of the Papilionidae and Nymphalidae families. Both are of the most colorful and large butterflies in the Caribbean. There are nine species of the Papilio butterflies in the country, four of which are endemic. Butterflies from the Nymphalidae family are included in the collection, including the zebra butterfly.
The exhibition also features species that are invasive and harmful to farming.
