Santo Domingo hosts Handball's best
Santo Domingo is hosting the Women's Pan American Handball Championship from 1-8 June 2013. The top four winning teams in the Pan American tournament gain slots in the next World Championship to be held in Serbia this December. This means that the top two teams in each group of five will already be qualified for the World Championship, regardless of what happens in the semi-finals and the medal games. As host country, one of the slots is already set aside for the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is in Group A with Brazil, Mexico, USA and Costa Rica. Group B: Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela, Canada and Paraguay. The event is held at the Handball Pavilion at the Centro Olimpico Juan Pablo Duarte, Av. Ortega y Gasset in Santo Domingo.
