Taiwanese tourism delegation to visit
Taiwanese Minister of Transport and Communications Kuang Shih Yeh will be visiting the Dominican Republic from 11-15 September heading a 15-member Taiwanese travel industry delegation. The mission is made up of travel agents, golf businesspeople, yacht manufacturers and airline executives, as well as members of the Taiwanese media. The group, which seeks to set the foundations for an increase in travel between Taiwan and the Dominican Republic, will tour the main tourism destinations and meet with government tourism representatives to coordinate an increase in promotion of Dominican tourism destinations in Taiwan, as reported in El Caribe.

Forecasters covering the Caribbean say that conditions are exceptionally good this year for development of disturbed weather into hurricanes. But so far so good this year.
September is the peak month for hurricanes in the Caribbean, and has been for the Dominican Republic for almost 100 years.
