DR sponsors Miami HEAT games this season
The Ministry of Tourism is sponsoring Miami HEAT basketball games this season. The Miami HEAT is the 2013 NBA Championship team.
"The Dominican Republic is a popular vacation spot for Florida residents, especially with most destinations being just a two-hour flight from Miami," said Magaly Toribio, marketing advisor for the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism.
"The Dominican Republic is like a home away from home for many of us who live in South Florida," said Eric Woolworth, president of The HEAT Group's Business Operations. "Renewing our partnership offers us yet another chance to show Heat fans everywhere that the DR really does have it all: pristine beaches, a warm climate and festive culture."
Delta adds more flights to New York and Santiago
Delta Air Lines has announced two new daily seasonal frequencies from New York's JFK International Airport to Santo Domingo and Santiago available for summer 2014. The new flights will be serviced by Boeing 737-800 with a 160-seat capacity, expanding Delta's operation to five daily services between New York and the two largest cities in the Caribbean country. The flights will start on 5 June and continue through 29 October, in time for the peak summer travel period.
"Delta's expanded capacity provides customers with an increased variety of options to fit their travel needs," said Maria Fernanda Price, Delta's regional manager for the Caribbean. "We will have five daily flights between JFK-New York and main Dominican markets, offering great connectivity to travel to New York as well as for 30 international destinations through our new International Terminal 4 at JFK."
The new Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport, which opened on 24 May as part of a US$1.4 billion redevelopment project offers nine new and seven renovated international gates, improved and renovated check-in areas, a dedicated Sky Priority check-in area, an enlarged and centralized security checkpoint, new retail and dining options from some of New York's best-known chefs, and a new 24,000-square-foot flagship Delta Sky Club with the first-ever Sky Deck rooftop terrace.
The New York (JFK) flight to Santo Domingo departs at 7:30am, 12:05pm, 2:30pm, 7:45pm and 11:59pm. Return flights from Santo Domingo (SDQ) depart at 1:40am, 7:30am, 2:42pm, 5pm and 7:25pm.
The New York (JFK) flight to Santiago (STI) departs at: 7am, 8:30am, 9am, 12:35pm, 2pm, 7pm, 9:30pm and 11:59pm, depending on the dates.
Casa de Campo wins four 2013 World Travel Awards
The Dominican Republic's famous Casa de Campo that boasts the finest golf in the Caribbean region has again had its international reputation validated at the recent 2013 World Travel Awards. The awards are voted on by leading travel agents. At the so-called Oscars of the travel industry held for the Caribbean and North American region, Casa de Campo won the top award in the categories of:
World's Leading Golf Resort 2013, Caribbean's Leading Golf Resort 2013, Dominican Republic's Leading Golf Resort 2013, and the Dominican Republic's Leading Resort 2013. Casa de Campo is strong in sports, with renowned instructors from the equestrian, tennis, shooting and golf worlds.
The World Travel Awards, which for 20 years have been recognized around the globe as the travel industry's highest accolade, celebrate companies, organizations, and brands that "are pushing the boundaries of industry excellence in product and service."
This was the resort's seventh straight win as World's Leading Golf Resort, its sixth consecutive title as the Caribbean's Leading Golf Resort (and its eighth win in 13 years), its 10th consecutive time earning the award for Dominican Republic's Leading Golf Resort (making it the only winner ever in that category) and ninth straight win as the Dominican Republic's Leading Resort (also making it the only winner ever in that category).
Casa de Campo won several other prestigious awards in 2013. Great deal for flying LRM to San Juan, Puerto Rico
Flying to San Juan from La Romana is now a breeze. The La Romana International Airport is but a one-hour drive from Santo Domingo or Punta Cana on the excellent brand new highway system. La Romana airport promises the fastest customs and security clearing in the country (and probably the Caribbean!). This means people living in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana should definitely consider this flight for travel to San Juan.
And of course travelers headed for La Romana from San Juan are now well served.
The company is offering introductory fares to LRM from San Juan for US$129 one way and from La Romana to San Juan for US$99 one way, taxes included! The flight schedule for the Thursday and Sunday flights are:
Departing SJU at 1:15pm and arriving LRM at 2:25pm
Departing LRM at 3:15pm and arriving SJU at 4:25pm
Bookings must be made by 31st December and travel completed by 6th March 2014, there is seat limitations.
Making the deal better, Seaborne has an interline agreement with JetBlue, facilitating connections with JetBlue flights at Luis Munoz Marin Airport in San Juan, PR (SJU). With the agreement, baggage can be checked at either JetBlue or Seaborne and bags will be transferred without having to be rechecked.
