The growing trend of solo vacations
The New York Times reports that solo vacations are on the increase, with 24% of travelers, up from 15% in 2013, according to the 2015 Visa Global Travel Intentions Study conducted over 25 countries. The report says that solo travel is even more popular among first-time travelers, up to 37% from 16% in 2013.
The categories of solo travelers are wide: single and looking, married or in a committed relationship.
Census data analysis by Pew Research Center says that one in every five adults in the United States (25 and older) has never been married and over half of American adults are single.
