Courtyard Santo Domingo announces lobby remodeling
Courtyard Santo Domingo by Marriott has announced a total renovation of its lobby to better respond to the needs of the guests. As part of the hotel's Refreshing Business Strategy, the new lobby will combine functionality, aesthetics, technology and a fine-tuned mix of services to provide guests with greater control of the area. The renovation promises that high tech and high touch will meet in high style in the new "living space" where there will be increased flexibility to work, relax, eat, drink and socialize at each person's own pace. The idea for the space is to help guests make successful connections.
Senior sales & marketing manager Gianell Pena says, "The Refreshing Business concept is more than just a modern product, it's what our guests have said they want from us. This initiative is about moving from transactions to connections and empowering our associates with tools to deliver the best service in the city of Santo Domingo."
She said that the remodeling would affect the lobby, the first-floor restaurant and business center. Restaurant and business center services will continue open in a temporary area of the hotel during the construction. All other services will remain open to guests.
The renovation will begin on 30 November 2015 and is scheduled for completion by early February 2016.
The renovation of the hotel follows the renovations at Marriott properties in the Dominican Republic, including the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua and the new JW Marriott Santo Domingo.

At a signing ceremony at the PGA TOUR headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on 28 October 2015, the PGA TOUR and representatives of Puntacana Resort & Club announced that the Web.com Tour will be played in Punta Cana next year.
The Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship will be the Web.com Tour's first tournament in the Dominican Republic as well as the first to be played on any of the Caribbean islands.

The layout features six oceanfront holes and culminates with its last three holes known as the "Devil's Elbow", with the striking 18th hole requiring a dramatic forced carry over the cliff-lined Bay of Corales.

Master of the Ocean to come to Cabarete
The only water sports competition featuring surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) known as the Master of the Ocean will take place in Cabarete from 23 to 28 February 2016. The annual event takes advantage of the exceptional conditions in the Cabarete area for these watersports.
Founded by Marcus Bohm in 2013, the competition consists of 12 teams of four athletes. Each rider competes in a discipline, and the top 15 competitors move to a final stage where they compete for the Master of the Ocean title.
Cabarete is the perfect location as there is no wind in the morning for surfers and SUP enthusiasts, and consistent incoming trade winds from noon onwards, the perfect conditions for windsurfers and kitesurfers.
The 2016 Master of the Ocean organizers say they expect to host 2015 champion Zane Schweitzer and many other international riders including Samuel Perez-Hultz, Fiona Wylde, Luciano Gonzalez, Michael Gebhardt and Brian Talma.
